Clifford Elementary School is a jewel of a campus located in the beautiful foothills of Redwood City. Clifford has a history of strong community ties and strong family commitments to the success of our students. Our teachers are dedicated to providing a rigorous standards-based curriculum and to differentiating for various levels of learning. Our number one priority at Clifford Elementary School is to provide a safe learning environment in which the students, teachers, and staff foster a positive school culture and climate. Clifford Elementary School is a school with a strong sense of community and pride!

The teachers and staff of Clifford believe that all students have the right to learn.  It is important that there be a shared responsibility among parents, teachers, students, and administration to provide the most productive learning environment possible. The education and welfare of the children entrusted to us is at the center of everything we do.

The Clifford teachers have aligned their teaching and planning to the district pacing guide as well as the California State Standards. All of the teachers are provided with regular professional development opportunities by attending workshops with leading leaders in education, San Mateo County Office of Education, and our highly trained district curriculum team.

The parents of Clifford Elementary are extremely supportive of their children’s academic experience. The Parent Teacher Organization plays an active role in fund-raising, making educational assemblies available to students, and providing funds for grade level field trips when necessary. The PTO has also made available a variety of after school enrichment activities for our students. Enrichment programs are numerous and include Spanish with Berlitz, San Carlos Children’s Theater, or Art, to name a few.

To ensure student safety, supervision is provided on campus at all times during school hours. Teachers supervise students before, after school, and during recess. Noon supervisors monitor students during lunch.  Visitors are always welcome at Clifford Elementary School, but are asked to make arrangements in advance with the principal and/or teachers.  All visitors to the campus must sign in at the office and display a visitor’s pass. All students picked up during school hours must be signed out in the office and released only to those persons whose names appear on the emergency form.

Clifford Elementary school is a K-8 School where there are two elementary wings and two middle school buildings. The school has a computer lab available for students to use during computer instruction. We also have a library that is open from Monday-Thursday. An afterschool homework center will be funded by the Measure W funds. All of the rooms are equipped with sufficient desks and materials to carry out instructional tasks.  We also have organized activities available for our students during lunch recess.

All teachers in the Redwood City School District have the opportunity to participate in formal, full-day professional development days scheduled as part of the district calendar. All of the staff development days have either been district focus or based on school needs. Many of our staff meetings are devoted to professional development. We also have monthly Teacher Collaboration Days where we focus on staff development and discussion of individual student’s learning needs.

Welcome to Clifford Elementary School! We are excited to work with you, your family, and your children! We are committed to raising healthy, happy, and productive citizens along side you and your family!
