Fair Oaks Community School is part of the Redwood City School District.  For more than 100 years, the Redwood City School District has educated K-8 students in Redwood City, and portions of San Carlos, Menlo Park, Atherton, Woodside and incorporated areas near Redwood City.   • KIPP and Rocketship Charter Petitions Approved by the Board

    On June 25, 2014, the School Board conditionally approved petitions from two charter schools, KIPP and Rocketship. KIPP and Rocketship will operate independently of the Redwood City School District, but the school district will have legal oversight of the two schools. The schools will open in the fall of 2015 if the details describing the working relationship between the charters and the District can be worked out in Memorandums of Understanding.     Our own Hoover School was the pilot for the SEAL program - a major initiative by the Sobrato Family Foundation that is helping English learner students throughout the Bay Area excel in school.   • Redwood City School District And Redwood City Teachers Association Reach Tentative Contract Agreement: Total compensation increases by 3.5%

    On June 2, 2014, the Redwood City School District reached a tentative agreement with the Redwood City Teachers Association (RCTA), resolving negotiations for the 2013-2014 school year. Under the terms of the agreement, teachers will receive a total increase of 3.5%, of which 2% will be retroactive to July 1, 2013 and the remaining 1.5% will be effective today, June 2, 2014.
