Served in the White House as press secretary to President Clinton from 1995-1998. Prior to that he served as spokesman for the Department of State.
Was director of communications for the Democratic National Committee, national press secretary for the 1988 vice presidential campaign of Senator Lloyd Bentsen; was spokesman and political strategist for Sen. John Glenn, Gov. Bruce Babbitt, and Sen. Bob Kerrey. Press secretary to Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan.
