I came to Orion as a parent nine years ago and decided that by becoming a teacher here I would never have to leave. Before coming to Orion I taught at two different schools – one in New York and one in Belmont, CA for a total of six years. I have always taught at the elementary level because I find children at this age to be curious and eager to learn. I always feel that you can almost see the light bulbs going off in their heads as the children grasp a new concept. It is so rewarding to be a catalyst for that light turning on.

This is my 6th year at Orion working with small groups of English Learners from all grade levels. I feel privileged to be able to work with my students and recognize that I learn as much from them as they do from me. Every child has a passion, a strength and I do my best to ensure a safe, enriched and caring environment where each and every student can take responsibility for his or her learning and shine.

I have two sons on the cusp of becoming teenagers, both of whom thrived at Orion. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, walking, reading, traveling, and cooking. I feel fortunate to wake up every morning and be able to do something I enjoy that has purpose. It is wonderful to be a part of such a nurturing and positive community.
