MIT is a small nurturing middle school of 390 students built on Caught in the Middle principles with strong academic goals for each and every student. We strive to make sure that every student is known well and challenged to achieve to their highest potential. We offer explorative classes as well as opportunities for intervention for students working below standards. Any elementary student in the Redwood City School District may apply to attend MIT. We are a district-wide school of choice, so every student must apply to attend. There are no automatic feeder schools. We encourage visitors to our campus. On Friday mornings, in January and February, we give school tours. If you are interested, please call our main office to arrange reservations. We are proud of our academic improvement, which has resulted in full enrollment and a growing waiting list. In addition, we are excited with the reception we have received here in Redwood City and look forward to serving the middle school students of our district. As the new principal at McKinley, I am excited to build on previous successes and to work closely with the parent and local communities to create an environment which is safe, nurturing and academically challenging.
